style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">\u201cCome and You Will See!\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify;tab-stops:13.5pt .5in 2.5in 238.5pt 337.5pt\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt\">The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, &#8220;Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>This is the one I meant when I said, &#8216;A man who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.&#8217;<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>I myself did not know him, but the reason I came baptizing with water was that he might be revealed to Israel.&#8221;<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>Then John gave this testimony:<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>&#8220;I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>I would not have known him, except that the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, &#8216;The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is he who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.&#8217;<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>I have seen and I testify that this is the Son of God.&#8221;<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>The next day John was there again with two of his disciples.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, &#8220;Look, the Lamb of God!&#8221;<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">&#8220;What do you want?&#8221;<\/i><span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>They said, &#8220;Rabbi&#8221; (which means Teacher), &#8220;where are you staying?&#8221;<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span><i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">&#8220;Come,&#8221;<\/i> he replied, <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">&#8220;and you will see.&#8221; <\/i><span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp;<\/span><i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\"><span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/i>So they went and saw where he was staying, and spent that day with him.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>It was about the tenth hour.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>Andrew, Simon Peter&#8217;s brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, &#8220;We have found the Messiah&#8221; (that is, the Christ).<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>(NIV1984)<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">Have you ever taken a tour of the Florida Everglades\u2014 in an airboat?<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span>I have! It is a uniquely exhilarating experience!<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>You\u2019re skimming across the water in a flat bottom john-boat with a V-8 engine and a propeller mounted on the back.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>It is loud!<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>It is fast!<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>And it is oh so much fun!<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>As you are skimming across the water you suddenly see a patch of raised dry ground directly in front of you.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>You wait and wait and wait thinking that the guy driving the boat is going to swerve.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>Nope!<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>He goes right up and across that patch of dry ground and you continue your tour.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>At what are probably pre-selected spots he slows down the boat and turns the engine off.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>Then he starts to point out all the flowers and all the fauna and all the critters you probably would not see anywhere else.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>And yes, that is when the alligators come out!<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>It is amazing to see an alligator in its natural habitat.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>So, if you are ever in south Florida I strongly encourage you to take a tour of the Everglades\u2014 in a flat bottom john-boat with a V-8 engine and a propeller mounted on the back.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">Have you ever been to Sturgis, South Dakota\u2014 during Bike Week?<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>I have!<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>It is phenomenal!<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>There are literally thousands upon thousands of Harleys everywhere you look!<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>The sights, the sounds and the smells are such that if you are a fan of Harley\u2019s I would definitely encourage you to come and see for yourself what Sturgis, South Dakota, is like during Bike Week.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">Have you ever taken a trip to Mount Rainier in western Washington?<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>I have!<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>It is well worth the time it takes to get there.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>As you slowly drive the road that leads you up the side of the mountain to a lookout point called Paradise, the drive is nothing short of majestic.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>You see the valleys and the rivers and the waterfalls along the way.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>When you get to paradise and look up at the peak of Mount Rainier, well, there just aren\u2019t enough words to describe what your eyes are seeing.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>So, if you ever get into the Seattle area take a day to drive to Mount Rainier.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>It is definitely worth the time!<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">Right about now you might be wondering why I am bringing all of this out this morning.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>The reason is actually quite simple.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>When we are excited about something or when something is important to us, we have a tendency to want to share it with others, don\u2019t we?<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>In fact, sometimes we simply can\u2019t keep quiet\u2014 we <b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight:normal\">have<\/b> to share!<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">The ultimate example of this is found right here in our sermon text for today.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>This morning let\u2019s study this familiar portion of Scripture under the theme:<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span><b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight:normal\"><i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201cCome, and You Will see!\u201d<\/i><\/b><span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>What will we see?<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>We will see two things.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>First, we will see who Jesus of Nazareth is.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>Second, we will see what Jesus of Nazareth now wants us to do.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">If someone says to us, \u201cCome to Sturgis during Bike Week,\u201d we know exactly what we will see.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span>We will see thousands of Harley Davidson motorcycles.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>If someone says to us, \u201cCome take a tour of the Everglades with me,\u201d we know exactly what we will see.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>We will see birds and plants and critters that we may have never seen before in real life.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>But, if someone says to us, \u201cCome and see Jesus!\u201d what will we see?<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>John the Baptist gives us a very clear, a very concise and a very complete answer to that question right here in our text!<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>Shortly after John had baptized Jesus in the muddy waters of the Jordan, shortly after Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit, shortly after God the Father made it absolutely clear that Jesus of Nazareth is His dearly beloved Son\u2014 John the Baptist once again saw Jesus coming toward him and said to the people, <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201cLook, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.\u201d<\/i><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">When someone invites us to \u201cCome and see Jesus!\u201d they are <b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight:normal\">not<\/b> inviting us to see just another ordinary human being.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>They are <b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight:normal\">not <\/b>inviting us to see just a great teacher or just a powerful prophet or just an excellent example of how we are to live our life.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>When someone invites us to \u201cCome and see Jesus!\u201d they are inviting us to see <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201cthe Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world\u201d<\/i>\u2014 including <b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight:normal\">our<\/b> sin!<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">In order for us to truly grasp the depth of these words, my friends, we need to try and put ourselves in the sandals of the people who first heard John proclaim these words.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>When a descendant of Abraham heard John the Baptist refer to Jesus of Nazareth as the <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201cLamb of God who takes away the sin of the world\u201d<\/i> those words immediately painted a vibrant picture in their mind.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>The lamb occupied an extremely important role in picturing God\u2019s Plan of Salvation for this world.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>There was the Passover Lamb whose blood was painted on the doorframes of the houses of God\u2019s people in Egypt to save their firstborn from the angel of death.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>For hundreds upon hundreds of years, God\u2019s people feasted on the Passover lamb to remind them of how the Lord their God graciously rescued His people from slavery.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>(See Exodus 12)<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>For hundreds upon hundreds of years, the priests who were serving first at the Tabernacle and later at the Temple in Jerusalem would sacrifice a lamb every single morning to atone for the sins that God\u2019s people had committed the night before.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>Then in the evening they would sacrifice another lamb to atone for the sins that God\u2019s people had committed during that day.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>(See Exodus 29:38-41)<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>And ever since the days of the prophet Isaiah God\u2019s people were taught that the <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201cSuffering Servant\u201d<\/i> of the Lord, the Promised Messiah, would be <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201cled like a lamb to the slaughter\u201d<\/i> as He willingly suffered and died to pay the punishment that we deserve for our sins.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>(See Isaiah 52:13-53:7)<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">That beautifully rich Old Testament background enables us to understand exactly why the Holy Spirit led John the Baptist to point to Jesus and proclaim, <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201cBehold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.\u201d<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span><\/i>Whenever we are invited to \u201cCome and see Jesus!\u201d\u2014 whether it is by our parents, our pastor, our friends, or by Scripture\u2014 we are being invited to focus our attention on who Jesus of Nazareth is\u2014 the <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201cLamb\u201d<\/i> who was sent from God to <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201ctake away\u201d<\/i> our <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201csin\u201d<\/i>!<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">While those words seem very simple, in the Greek they are packed with meaning.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>The word that is translated here as <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201ctake away\u201d<\/i> very literally means <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201cto take up, to take away, to remove, or to conquer.\u201d<\/i><span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>It is also interesting to note that the word that is translated here as <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201csin\u201d <\/i>is a singular word.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>Since we human beings have a tendency to downplay or excuse at least some of the individual sins that we commit, the Holy Spirit has John focus our attention on the <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201csin\u201d<\/i> of the world \u2014 as in the <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201csinful condition\u201d<\/i> of the entire human race.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>As the sacrificial <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201cLamb of God\u201d<\/i> Jesus does not simply <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201ctake away\u201d<\/i> <b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight:normal\">some<\/b> of our sins.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>As the sacrificial <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201cLamb of God\u201d<\/i> Jesus does not simply <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201cremove\u201d<\/i> <b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight:normal\">most<\/b> of our sins.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>As the sacrificial <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201cLamb of God\u201d<\/i> Jesus does not simply <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201cconquer\u201d<\/i> our <b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight:normal\">\u201cmost serious\u201d <\/b>sins.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>No, my friends, as the sacrificial <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201cLamb of God\u201d<\/i> Jesus <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201ctakes away,\u201d<\/i> Jesus <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201cremoves,\u201d<\/i> Jesus <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201cconquers\u201d<\/i> our <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201csin\u201d<\/i>\u2014 the <b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight:normal\">entire<\/b> <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201csinful condition\u201d<\/i> with which we were born, the <b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight:normal\">entire<\/b> <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201csinful condition\u201d<\/i> into which we have sunk deeper and deeper with each and every individual sin we have committed against the God of heaven.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>That is why the Holy Spirit had John openly identify Jesus as <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201cThe Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.\u201d<\/i><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">\u201cCome and you will see!\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\"><span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>Every time you and I hear that glorious invitation the goal is for us to see who Jesus is.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>At the very same time, however, the invitation <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201cCome and you will see!\u201d<\/i> gives us an opportunity to see what Jesus now wants us to do!<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>Here in our text the Holy Spirit reminds us of two things that Jesus, the Lamb of God, wants us to do.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>First, look at verses 35-39.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>John writes, <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201cThe next day John was there again with two of his disciples.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, \u2018Look, the Lamb of God!\u2019<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>Turning around Jesus saw them following and asked, \u2018What do you want?\u2019<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>They said, \u2018Rabbi\u2019 (which means Teacher), \u2018where are you staying?\u2019<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>\u2018Come,\u2019 he replied, \u2018and you will see.\u2019<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>So they went and saw where he was staying, and spent that day with him.\u201d<\/i><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">The first thing that Jesus wants us to do, my friends, is to simply spend some personal quality time with Him.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>How do you and I spend time with Jesus now that He has ascended into heaven?<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>That is not a difficult question to answer, is it!<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>We spend time with Jesus every time we take a few minutes out of our daily schedule to read a portion of His holy Word.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>We spend time with Jesus every time we fold our hands and talk to Him in prayer.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>We spend time with Jesus every time we attend one of the Bible classes here at church.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>We spend time with Jesus every time we gather with our brothers and sisters in the faith to worship our Savior God here in His house.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>We spend time with Jesus every time we approach His altar to receive His true body and blood in the Sacrament of Holy Communion.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>In reality, the <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201cLamb of God\u201d<\/i> graciously gives us many opportunities to spend some quality personal time with Him.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>In reality, the <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201cLamb of God\u201d<\/i> reaches out to us over and over again and says, <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201cCome and you will see!\u201d<\/i><span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>The only real question is:<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>How often do we gladly make use of the opportunities we have to spend some time with Jesus and how often do we look at the <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201cLamb of God\u201d<\/i> who suffered and died to <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201ctake away\u201d<\/i> our <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201csin\u201d<\/i> (Pointing to the cross) and say, \u201cSorry Jesus, but I\u2019ve got a lot of things to do.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>Maybe I can spend some time with you next week, okay?\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">The second thing Jesus wants us to do is highlighted in the closing verses of our text.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>John writes, <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201cAndrew, Simon Peter\u2019s brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, \u2018We have found the Messiah\u2019 (that is, the Christ).<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>And he brought him to Jesus.\u201d<\/i><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">Once we have spent some quality personal time with Jesus, once we have seen and enjoyed and appreciated the wonderful truth that Jesus is the <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201cLamb of God who takes away the sin of the world,\u201d<\/i> then Jesus wants us to invite others to come and see!<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>Where do we begin?<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>We begin where Andrew began!<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>We begin with the people we know and love the most\u2014 our family!<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">Yes, my friends, Jesus wants us to make sure that we bring our children to Sunday school and to church so that they can spend some time with Jesus on a regular basis.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>Our children <b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight:normal\">need<\/b> to grow in their understanding of who the <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201cLamb of God\u201d<\/i> is and what He has done for them.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>(Pointing to the cross)<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>Yes, Jesus wants us to invite our friends and our neighbors to come to church with us so that they can spend some time with Jesus.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>They also <b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight:normal\">need<\/b> to see who Jesus is and what He has done for them.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>Yes, Jesus wants us to give generous offerings to support the work of His kingdom both here in our own community as well as all around the world so that others may come and see who Jesus is and what He has done for them.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span><i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201c<u>The first thing Andrew did<\/u> was to find his <u>brother<\/u> Simon and tell him, \u2018We have found the Messiah\u2019 (that is, the Christ).<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>And he brought him to Jesus.\u201d<\/i><span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>That\u2019s what Jesus now wants us to do!<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">If I know that someone is a fan of motorcycles\u2014 especially Harleys\u2014 I would encourage them to go to Sturgis, South Dakota, and see Bike Week for themself.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>If I know that someone is a fan of the great outdoors I wouldn\u2019t hesitate to invite them to take a tour of the Florida Everglades.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>In much the same way every single person you and I know, every single person you and I see, every single person on the face of this earth <b style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight:normal\">needs<\/b> Jesus.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>As Christians it is both our joy and our privilege to follow the example that is given to us here in our text.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>Therefore, my friends, point people to Jesus and say, <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201cLook, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!\u201d<\/i><span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>Go to your family and friends, \u2014 especially those who do not know that Jesus is the Messiah\u2014 and simply do what your Savior wants you to do.<span style=\"mso-spacerun:yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>Say to them <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style:normal\">\u201cCome and you will see!\u201d<\/i><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">To God be the glory!<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-pagination:none\"><span style=\"font-size:12.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line\">Amen<\/span><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"postie-attachments\">Download sermon audio ::  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.livingwordpetaluma.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Epiphany-2-01-19-20.mp3\">Epiphany-2-01-19-20.MP3<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;
